Dr. Hazem F. Elewa is an Associate Professor in the Clinical Pharmacy and Practice Section and Pharm D Director at Qatar University. He also serves as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in the Anticoagulation Clinic at Al Wakra Hospital, Hamad Medical Corporation. His academic and professional career spans clinical pharmacy, pharmacogenomics, anticoagulation management, pharmacy education and translational research.
Dr. Elewa earned his PhD in Clinical and Experimental Therapeutics from the University of Georgia and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in pharmacogenomics at the University of Florida. His research has focused extensively on warfarin pharmacogenetics, direct oral anticoagulants, cardiovascular pharmacotherapy, therapeutic drug monitoring and precision medicine.
He has led and co-led numerous funded research projects, including the QARD registry on direct oral anticoagulants and several pharmacogenomics and warfarin studies. He has an extensive peer-reviewed publication record, with an H-index of 22 in Scopus as of September 2025, and has received multiple research and academic awards.
